Abundant sunshine and friendly smiles once again greeted us upon our arrival to the CNC. We were happy to work with our naturalist, Miss Chris, again today. Together, we...
We truly enjoyed all of the experiences that the CNC staff designed and executed. They prepared lessons that were fun and engaging. The activities gave us opportunities to work on our social and teamwork skills, too. Thank you, Chippewa Nature Center, for once again hosting our Bullock Creek students for the week. You all truly make every day a great day to VENTURE OUT! https://www.chippewanaturecenter.org/ Can you believe this amazing April weather? Who would've thought that we'd have temperatures in the 70s & 80s in April? We are enjoying this taste of summer and are thankful that it fell during our Creek Week. Our survival-themed week continued with the help of Mr. Justin. Today, we...
We are looking forward to our last day tomorrow. The naturalists encouraged the children to wear good footwear for a long hike on Friday. They were encouraged to wear shoes (not rubber boots), socks, sunscreen & hats. They were also reminded to bring water bottles. Update on Wednesday's experiment:

(The process of plants releasing water vapor through their leaves is called transpiration.) It worked! Thank you for the update, Miss Katie! Once again the beautiful weather welcomed us to the CNC. Today, we enjoyed working with Miss Katie. We...
It was another fun-filled experience at the CNC. We are excited to return again tomorrow. Today we worked with our naturalists, Miss Chris & Miss Kris, to learn about how to find food in a survival situation. We:
Fun Fact: Did you know that a Prickly-pear cactus can grow in Michigan? It doesn't get very large, but it can survive in parts of our state. Can you find one in the pictures below? You could eat it in a survival situation, but be sure to remove the spines first! This week's lessons have been built around a survival theme. Today, we...
The students and I would like to give an extra-special thank you to our CNC Naturalists, Miss Chris & Mr. Rod, for the knowledge and expertise that they shared with all of us. We also want to take the opportunity to thank the very helpful, friendly, welcoming staff at the Chippewa Nature Center. The incredible CNC staff makes each day a good day to venture out into the great outdoors. |
