The fourth graders enjoyed their "Friendship Salad" this morning. Thank you for your generous donations to make our celebration a success.
Our class would like to wish everyone, "Happy Thanksgiving!" Meet our classroom pets: Bob, Brownie, Charlie, and Sleepy. Can you tell them apart? They are Madagascar hissing cockroaches. You can read facts about these fascinating animals here.
In addition to the cockroaches, our class is enjoying watching a caterpillar that mysteriously appeared inside of the cockroach habitat one day. We're wondering if it was inside one of the cockroaches' apples. We're excited to see what it will do. If you're interested in adopting some *free* Madagascar hissing cockroaches of your own, then please let Ms. Johnson know. Mrs. Jean, who works in our building, rescues them and is always looking for people to adopt them. Here's a cockroach care sheet with more information. Thanks to your generosity, many families in the Midland area will receive extra food and supplies this season. Our classroom collected 162 items. Thank you!!!
In total, Pine River Elementary collected over 1,000 items! Thank you so very much to all our families for giving toward this cause. Thank you to Army National Guard veteran, Mr. Kirk, for presenting to us today. We enjoyed learning about boot camp, MREs, earning badges, etc. We also enjoyed hearing a little about his experience in Operations "Desert Shield" and "Desert Storm" in the Middle East in the early 1990s. Thank you for taking the time to speak to us today.
THANK YOU to Mr. Kirk and to all of the veterans out there for serving our country.
