Hello everyone and welcome to our classroom's website. It was developed for the purposes of communicating with parents/guardians and enhancing the learning of students. I hope that you find it helpful.
For as long as I can remember I have dreamed of becoming a teacher. I have fond memories of "teaching" my stuffed animals using the chalkboard on my bedroom wall and “driving busses” with my younger sister on our bikes up and down our long driveway. It's amazing how a seed can be planted early in our lives and then take root, grow, and bloom so many years later.
Teaching is my passion...and one that I nearly missed due to fear. As I mentioned, I had thought of becoming a teacher since an early age. However, that dream almost slipped away while I was in college. Back then, I had incredible anxiety about public speaking that stemmed back to a poor public speaking experience in fifth grade. That fear was so deeply rooted that I had convinced myself I wouldn’t be able to teach since public speaking was what I would have to do all day. Avoiding that fear steered me into the business and finance fields for the first two years of college. It wasn't until my junior year that I decided to step out of my comfort zone and take one education class…and I never turned back. (And, no, I am still not a big fan of public speaking.) :)
I am enthusiastic about learning, and I strive to inspire my students to never stop acquiring knowledge. My formal education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in language arts and mathematics as well as a master's degree in early childhood education from Central Michigan University. I enjoy engaging in additional professional development in order to keep up with the new and exciting things going on in the field of education.
When not in school or doing something for school, you may find me walking, biking, doing yard work, reading, and spending time with loved ones.
It truly is a dream come true to go to work and do what I love each day for 26+ years. The parents, students, and staff whom I have (and have had) the pleasure of working with are incredible. “The Creek” is a great place to be!
I am so glad that you stopped by our classroom's website today. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments. Have a wonderful day!
