The children have participated in a lot of intentional team-building activities in order to strengthen the sense of community and belonging in the classroom. For example, during math today, we worked with our "elbow partners" to review the skill of building 3-digit numbers with base-10 blocks. Partners gave each other numbers to build and then checked them. We practiced the art of giving feedback to each other as well as helping by "coaching" when needed. Here's a glimpse into our second day of fourth grade. Thankfully, the warm, humid air mass exited and it left behind comfortable temperatures and sunshine. It was a perfect day to take science outside. We kicked off our upcoming life science unit by taking part in a scavenger hunt. Our toes may have gotten a little wet from the dew, but we had a lot of fun.
Our first day of school is in the books. Many friends were reunited and new connections were made. The children participated in physical education class, organizational tasks, get-to-know you activities, and more. Hopefully you heard lots of stories about the first day and that everyone is excited to return again tomorrow.
School will begin tomorrow! Here are some notes about tomorrow:
If you have any questions for me, please send them my way: [email protected] I am excited to see all of you tomorrow morning! (Our lockers are on both sides of the classroom. Look for the smiling stars.) Hello! Thank you for stopping by our classroom's website. Please bookmark it and check back soon. It's that time of year to prepare our school supplies. The list was on the back of the letter that was recently mailed from the school and is posted here. Please do not feel obligated to purchase every item. I will have extras available if needed. In order to save time on the first day of school, it would be VERY helpful if you would label the items at home. Please note that each color of single-subject notebook is for a different subject: yellow = social studies green = science blue = math purple = math lab Students are encouraged to bring their locker supplies, classroom donations, and desk supplies to the open house. The lockers and desks will be ready to go! Please email me if you have any questions or just to say, "Hello!"
