Pine River's open house will be this evening from 5:00-5:45. Students are encouraged to bring their desk and locker supplies to the open house. Need a copy of the Welcome letter or school supplies list? Please scroll down to the posts below for more information.
Here are a couple more upcoming events to note: Tuesday, September 3rd - First day of school (Report to room 12 at 8:40 AM.) We will have art class that day, not PE. Thursday, September 5th - Fourth grade curriculum night for parents (5:30 - 6:30 PM) l hope to see everyone at the open house this evening! Welcome, Pine River's new fourth grade students and families! It's that time of the year to start thinking about school supplies. The list was on the back of the letter that was recently mailed from the school. If you need another copy, please scroll down to the post below. (Please do not feel obligated to purchase any or all of the items listed; extras will be available.) If you choose to purchase supplies, please consider labeling the items at home. It would really save us a lot of time on the first day of school. Each color is for a different subject; please see photos and labeling information below. Homework Binder or Folder:
Subject Folders & Notebooks: Please write student's first and last name in top, right-hand corner of each item. Please write the subject on the front, too. Each color is for a different subject*:
Optional Writing Notebook Decorating Idea: Your child is welcome to decorate the front and/or back covers of the writing composition book with photos or other items such as magazine clippings, comics, calendars, stickers, etc. The hope is that the items will trigger emotions, ideas, and memories for our upcoming writing pieces. Once finished, it's a good idea to place packing tape over the covers so items don't fall off when moved in and out of the desk. (This is an optional activity; it's fine to leave the cover plain.) Supplies & Supplies Boxes:
Thank you so much for your support with the purchasing and labeling of the school supplies. It's such a HUGE help! Hello everyone, and welcome to fourth grade! I am excited to work with you this year and look forward to meeting everyone very soon.

On Monday, I will begin to post information for the new fourth graders and their families. That doesn't mean that your review of fourth grade material needs to end though. You're welcome to continue to visit the website.
Speaking of fractions, do you remember the three ways that they can be written? Click here to review a proper fraction, an improper fraction, and a mixed number. After watching this video--> https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=bzFbHkj1JZ4, you may wish to ask your parents to print a variety of fractions worksheets from Math-Drills.com. Don't forget to stop by our Fractions & Decimals page, too. I hope that you have enjoyed reviewing over the summer. I encourage you to keep doing so during the month of August. Remember how important it is to give your brain the "reps" that it needs? Happy reviewing, and I'll see you in the halls very soon! :) Midland's Riverdays and Balloon Fest have a lot of activities to offer this weekend. Perhaps you'll have a chance to go.
With all the excitement about the hot air balloons, let's learn some science behind how they work:
