Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! We felt pretty lucky today to have a book fair AND a fun science investigation on energy and stored energy. Thank you to our helpful PTO volunteers for all their work running the book fair today. Your help was appreciated!
The book fair is up and running. Thank you to our wonderful PTO for making it happen for our students this year. Here are some notes about items that you will see come home today:
The students have been learning about farming in Michigan. They have spent time comparing farm life in the 1800s to living on a farm now. The topic of chores was discussed. One of the chores of the past that the students got firsthand experience performing today was making their own butter. The children had the opportunity to use a few simple ingredients that would have been found on almost every farm in the past (heavy cream & salt) and churn away. After much time shaking, the butter was formed and any remaining liquid was drained. Then came the best part -- tasting the final product.
"You're off to Great Places!
Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So...get on your way!" -Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go! "I do not like green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam-I-Am."
-Dr. Seuss, Green Eggs and Ham It looked a wee bit like St. Patrick's Day with all the green that was sported in our classroom today. We are thinking spring! Tomorrow will be Oh, the Places You'll Go Day. We will wear a college shirt or a Bullock Creek shirt. Tune in tomorrow! Read Across America Spirit Week continued today with Wacky Socks Day. Check out our colorful and creative footwear below.
Tomorrow will be Green Eggs and Ham Day, so stop by then to see us sporting our green shirts. |
