https://nationalzoo.si.edu/migratory-birds/news/kirtlands-warbler-expedition-blog www.smithsonianmag.com/videos/category/at-the-smithsonian/yearlong-migration-of-the-kirtlands-warbler/ Our Valentine's Day was filled with learning activities, packing Birthday Bags, distributing valentines, playing games, and eating ice cream sundaes. Thank you to our wonderful room parents, Mrs. Czolgosz and Mrs. Dice, for making the activities so engaging. Also, thank you to all of the parents who took the time to donate food/supplies and attend.
One of our nation's Core Democratic Values (CDVs) is the Common Good, which states that citizens should work together for the good of all.
One way that the children put that CDV into practice this month was when they packed/collected Birthday Bags for clients at Shelterhouse in Midland. Each bag included many items to be used to enhance a celebration, such as a cake mix, frosting, candles, plates, napkins, cards, decorations, favors, and more. On Valentine's Day, our class worked together to pack 16 Birthday Bags. That activity was made possible thanks to one of our student's parents, Mrs. Owen, with the help of a grant that she received from the Michigan Operations Community Outreach Team. We are so thankful for the grant and to Mrs. Owen for purchasing and delivering all of the supplies. In all, 47 Birthday Bags were donated to Shelterhouse. I hope that the bags bring as many smiles to the community as they did to the children who packed them. Thank you parents, students, and the Michigan Operations Community Outreach Team for your generosity.
