Here's the PTO's calendar of events through December. I am so thankful for such an enthusiastic and supportive PTO. They work hard to come up with fun, engaging activities for the children, and they're always there to offer teachers help with classroom needs. That means so much. Thank you!

Stems are important for a plant's survival. So far, we have learned that stems support a plant by holding it up. We have also learned that stems transport water and nutrients from the roots to the rest of the plant through tissue called the xylem. You can read more here:
Plant Stem Facts for Kids Xylem Facts for Kids Our partnership with the Chippewa Nature Center (CNC) will continue this year. The children are very excited to participate once again.
The CNC grant pays for a naturalist to visit our classroom once a month. Our naturalist will be Miss Jennifer DuBey, and our time will be 2:15-2:55 PM. Tuesday dates for the school year:
Students should dress for the weather conditions on those days as the lessons take place outside. Thank you! The students recently had a trial run logging into Google Classroom. They practiced accessing it using their school-issued email address and password. Students will need to be able to access our Google Classroom in the event that the school building closes. Please encourage your child to practice logging into Google Classroom on his/her device at home.
Several students mentioned that they are sharing devices with multiple members at home. The district still has a few Chromebooks available for students to borrow and keep at home until the end of the school year. If you'd like your child to borrow a Chromebook, you can submit a request here: [email protected] Photos will be taken in the AM. Every child’s picture will be taken so everyone will be in the yearbook. Ordering info went home last week. Please note--this is the only time to order a yearbook. Yearbooks won’t arrive until June, but this is the time to order. Here’s a copy of the order form: The following forms are attached: Backpack Buddies -- Due Friday, September 25 Sharing Tree -- Due Thursday, October 1 Community Christmas Closet -- Due Thursday, October 15 Please let me know if you need a copy of any form(s) sent home with your child. We have Venus Flytraps! A couple of our classmates brought them in this week. On Wednesday someone brought in dead flies and a beetle so we got to feed a few of the Venus Flytraps. It was a VERY big deal! Now we're waiting to see how long it takes each plant to dissolve the insects.
