Spirit Week will continue on Wednesday with Favorite Sports Team Day, and Friday will be Black & Gold Day.
Many children dressed in their camouflage to kick off our Homecoming Spirit Week. Since it was such a beautiful day, plus the fact that the children received an excellent report from a guest teacher that morning, they were treated to a bonus recess. They really enjoyed the fun time together with their friends. Spirit Week will continue on Wednesday with Favorite Sports Team Day, and Friday will be Black & Gold Day.

Math Lab Volunteer Information Night with Mrs. Swears
Please stop by if you would like to learn more about Math Lab’s operational details and decide how you might like to be involved. Tuesday, September 23 5:30-6:00 p.m. Pine River Science Lab To read more about Math Lab, click here. If you'd like to volunteer but cannot make it this evening, please email Mrs. Swears (pronounced sweers) at [email protected]. Thank you! The students enjoyed learning about the classifications of vertebrates during our recent trip to the Chippewa Nature Center. Highlights included assembling puzzles of birds, touching the pelts and bones of various mammals, looking for fish in the Pine River, dressing up classmates as amphibians and reptiles, and dipping for amphibians in the pond. What an exciting, hands-on way to learn about animals!
Our class will be going on a field trip to the Chippewa Nature Center on Wednesday, September 17th. The children will learn about animal adaptations and classifications. We will leave school at approximately 9:10 AM and return at approximately 11:40 AM. Note: We will be walking to/from the Nature Center, so please help your child remember to dress appropriately.
There is no cost for this field trip. It is being paid for by a grant from the Midland County Educational Service Agency. Thank you, MCESA! Please contact me if you’d like to chaperone. Thank you! Parent night is coming up this Thursday, September 11th at 6:00 PM. I will hold an informational meeting for parents in my classroom (room 12). I plan to go over third grade expectations, frequently-asked questions, and some procedures. I expect the event to last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. I hope that you can attend.
The first day of school is in the books. The children had a full day learning new routines and getting reacquainted with their friends. The morning's jitters dissipated and gave way to fun and laughter as the day progressed. I expect that everyone is pretty tired tonight.
Here are just a couple of reminders:
