Our classroom was a sea of green today as many arrived wearing their festive St. Patrick's Day attire. These Lancers tried their luck to find all of the Leprechaun hats that the PTO hid throughout the school. Students submitted their guesses for a chance to win the big prize of a bike! Thank you to our amazing PTO for coming up with a fun Plan B today to make up for the cancellation of last night's outdoor scavenger hunt.
Every month is reading month at Pine River. However, the month of March is nationally recognized as "Reading Month." We launched the month in a few special ways. On Wednesday, we attended our school-wide Book Fair. On Thursday & Friday, we wore hats and snuggled with our stuffed animals while working. It was a fun (and cozy) way to kick off the month.
Side note: The children enjoyed staging their stuffed animals when they went to lunch and recess each day. I just had to capture the cuteness. Enjoy. :) Today was our introduction to geology. The children participated in an activity where they created a human model to represent layers of the earth. Then, they took a hike along the river to look for evidence of weathering and erosion. After that, they compared historical photographs to notice how the land had changed over the years. Finally, they designed landscape models to withstand a sudden rainfall. It was an exciting, hands-on way to learn about the earth.
A special "Thank You" goes to our incredible CNC guides, Mr. Justin & Miss Lindsey, and our amazing chaperones. Thank you for all you did to create a fun and safe learning experience for everyone. |
