Reading Workshop
- It's time for another folktale. As you know, a folktale is a story that has been passed down from generation to generation.
- Let's read a folktale from Africa called Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters on pages 86-103.
- In your journal, respond to these questions: Did that folktale remind you of any other stories that you've heard before? What is a possible theme that you noticed in the text? Support that theme with at least three examples from the text.
- Did you encounter any unknown words? If you were unable to figure them out based on the clues in the sentences, here's a helpful online dictionary for kids: http://wordcentral.com/
- If you have time later today, please read your choice of books, too.
Science
- Let's read the article on pp. 8-9 in Super Science: Follow That Nose! Feel free to take notes in a journal.
- In this article, you read about an engineer named Aaron Muderick. You can learn more about engineering here: https://johnsond.weebly.com/engineering.html
Social Studies
- Before beginning the packet that was sent home, I suggest that you spend time reviewing where you left off in your third grade studies of Michigan's history.
- Today, let's read Chapter 4, Lesson 3 (pp. 144-150)
- A couple of vocabulary words to pay close attention to are import and export.
- It would be helpful to jot down your answers to the questions on p. 151 in your journal.
- Also, can you list at least 5 products in your house that are imports (products made/grown in other countries and sold here)?
- Next, can you list at least 5 products that our state or country exports (products made/grown here and sold in other states/countries)?
