Ms. Sherwood was a sergeant in the Army with 23 years of service. During her presentation, she shared some photos and many stories about her experiences with MREs, driving tanks, and training hundreds of people in another country who didn't speak English. At the conclusion of her presentation, the students stood with her to proudly recite The Pledge of Allegiance.
Mr. Crawford was an Army medic and helicopter pilot during his 21 years of service. During his presentation, he shared the history of Veterans Day as well as some of his photos, experiences, and equipment. Mr. Crawford also encouraged students to take the time (with parent permission) to thank American Veterans with a simple handshake and a "Thank you."

Our class would like to extend an extra-special, across-the-miles handshake and "Thank you" to Mrs. VanNorman's father, Robert E. Cook, Jr., a 92-year-old World War II Army veteran living in South Carolina. (Pictured left with his bride of 67 years, Joyce.) He served bravely overseas as a frontline gunner in France during WWII. We thank you, Sir, for your service to our country.
