Thank you, Mr. Venman, for sharing your photos with us! :)
It was a glorious day to head to the farm. A HUGE "Thank you!" goes out to the Laurenz Family, the Breckenridge FFA students, the volunteers, and our wonderful chaperones for making today's field trip a success! The children learned about agriculture in Michigan, some facets of farm life, and some farming economics. It was a great learning experience for all! Have a great week! We recently launched our unit on energy. In this activity, we learned that when something is moving, it has energy. We built an amusement park ride that used rubber bands and figured out how to create the fastest, most exciting ride. Students then designed an amusement park ride that could be powered with energy that's stored in food, batteries, gasoline, rubber bands and more! They're a creative bunch of kids! Ask your child to tell you about his/her design.
Recess provides excellent opportunities to build friendships outside of the classroom. Thank you to the PTO for the GaGa Ball Pit. The kids really enjoy playing in it. If you're like me and wasn't sure from where the GaGa pit originated, here's some info from gagaballpits.com: GaGa Ball is believed to have originated in Israel, and slowly spread across the U.S. over several decades. Ga means "hit" or "touch" in Hebrew. In the rules of GaGa ball, the ball must touch the ground two times before it is considered in play, hence the name. GaGa Ball consists of a lightweight bouncy or foam ball and an octagon enclosure known as the "GaGa Ball Pit." The object of the game is to hit the ball at or below opponents' knees to eliminate them from the pit. The last one left in the GaGa Ball Pit is the winner.
Our partnership with the Chippewa Nature Center (CNC) will continue this year. The children are very excited to participate once again.
The CNC grant pays for a naturalist to visit our classroom once a month. Our naturalist will be Miss Allie Robb, and our time will be 9:35-10:10 AM. Thursday dates for the school year:
